This wine is the result of using two pruning methods to achieve maximum fruit expression from Lawson’s own Waihopai Valley vineyard with free draining soils. The unique microclimate and everything in moderation seems to be the key here. Moderate yields, moderate leaf plucking, and harvesting at moderate brix levels have all combined to produce this elegant wine with wonderful aromatics.

The free run juice is fermented in a stainless steel tank with an aromatic yeast strain. The pressings are discarded and the fermentation is performed at low temperatures to retain the intense citrus aromatic characters produced from this grape variety.

Tasting Notes

This Riesling is pale, with green hints of color.  The aroma is vibrant, with lemon, lime, and floral notes and more subtle notes of stone fruit and honey.  The palate is fresh and lively, showing red apples, citrus, and a crisp minerality.  The finish is long and harmonious.
